The Defenders
While Sigourney Weaver ’s Alexandra may still be a mystery , it seems the villain will indeed be a sinewy member of The Hand inThe withstander . In just a few hebdomad , the final while of the original Netflix / Marvel slew will arrive . InThe Defenders , we will not only see Marvel ’s four street - level superheroes get together force , but most of their ally and friend will be along for the drive . So far , the early reviews have painted the show as enjoyable but not always the sum of its part . Despite some flaws , it still seems to be a sport squad - up miniseries , even iffuture seasons ofThe Defendersare not a given .
One of the face of the serial that fans are most excited for is Weaver ’s big badness . While not a lot is known about the baddie , we have a good idea ofhow Alexandra views the Defendersand what her own motivation are . It ’s also becoming increasingly clean-cut that she holds a location of power amongst the Hand . Between the gibbosity of the malevolent ninjas in shows likeDaredevilandIron Fistand a clip fromThe DefenderspairingAlexandra with Madame Gao , the only question stay is what position does Weaver ’s character hold in the organization .

“ In Daredevil and Iron Fist , the two shows with the most references to the Hand , [ characters ] always say ‘ Oh , there are players beyond [ those we ’ve met ] that are bigger than this , ’ or ‘ There are people that work beyond this who are pulling the strings . The truth is she ’s like the thing in the dark who ’s finally walking out . ”
Given Weaver ’s jut as a performer andThe Defendersserving as a major crossover for the Marvel / Netflix usher , it ’s heavy to envisage that Alexandra is n’t the loss leader of The Hand in some respect . That said , there ’s no guarantee that she ’s a theatrical role from Marvel Comics , either . While it ’s unknown if she ’s from the Thomas Nelson Page or an original initiation , Ramirez did offer fans a breath :
“ We chose [ the name ] ‘ Alexandra ’ because it sounded regal . ”
While that could just be a throwaway line of products , it could also hint at her true identicalness . Madame Gao , for instance , is n’t a character from the strip , but she shares a circle in common with Iron Fist villain The Crane Mother . For Alexandra , we can at least safely say the regal panorama of her does n’t imply she will be Hand drawing card Kingpin . And with Daredevil and Elektra also already subsist in the MCU , it ’s grueling to say which Hand loss leader from the comics Alexandra could be . Given that many of them are Japanese , that really only leaves someone like Typhoid Mary .
Though we ’ve see rumorsMary will be in season 2 ofJessica Jones- and Weaver does n’t tally the traditional mold of the character - it ’s certainly a possibility . Of course , there ’s nothing regal about Typhoid Mary . As such , Alexandra may simply be a young fibre - or one that ’s so modify from the comics that we wo n’t be able to reckon her personal identity ahead of time .
