A picture confirming Yung ’s return as Elektra inThe Defenderswas posted to the miniseries ' officialTwitteraccount . The video includes the tagline"The Strong Survive"with Elektra , but it does not elaborate on her persona in theDefenders ' storyline beyond that .
Daredevilseason 2 concluded with the revelation that Matt Murdock ’s ( Charlie Cox ) quondam flame , Elektra is in fact Black Sky : a deadly " weapon " spirt by The Hand , forreasons that have yet to be discover in full . Elektra was killed not long after this reveal , but the final injection ofDaredevilseason 2 show Miss Natchios about to be resurrected by The Hand ; setting up for her to potentially pass as an opponent inThe Defenders . It ’s been speculated that when Elektra does come back , she will have dark supernatural power and be powerful enough to necessitate the street - level heroes of New York coming together and saving their city from her andher mysterious " party boss " ( Sigourney Weaver ) .
None of this has been confirmed yet of course , but who better to serve as the " sinew " for Weaver ’s character onThe Defendersthan a grapheme whom viewers already sleep with fromDaredevilseason 2 - and whose play to evilness would bring out contravene emotions in Matt Murdock , peculiarly ? Having the as if by magic - empowered Elektra do as an antagonist inThe Defenderswould also work out as a natural progression of theovert supernatural element fromIron Fistseason 1 ; at the same time , it would more closely standoff - in the events ofThe Defenderswith those fromDaredevilin particular .
