Warning : stop SPOILERS for Doc season 1 , episode 6.Docseason 1 , instalment 6 marked a big advance for Jake and Amy . The relationship between the two doctors is one of the most spectacular factor of the new FOX serial , as Amy ’s memory loss has caused her to bury what had been happening between them at the sentence of the accident . Still , thing took a step forward in the most recent instalment , with Jake and Amy snog after the latter public figure out that the two were in a family relationship .

The situation is complicated , as Amy has also return once more for her X - hubby and isreprocessing the loss of her son Danny . Jake actor Jon Ecker wager his character with compassionateness for Amy , but also as someone who struggle to voyage their fragile relationship specially as he carry off his own kinship with a daughter and ex-wife - married woman . Jon Ecker Discusses How Jake’s Personal Life Impacts His Approach To Work

“He Does Have A Personal Connection To These Patients”

ScreenRant : What did you find most interesting about the CIP case in Episode 6 ?

Jon Ecker : That ’s a crazy affair to think about : the fact that you could n’t feel any pain . I do a lot of woodworking and stuff with creature , so I ’m sure I ’d plausibly slam dance my hired man with a hammer or a nail or something and not even comment . But I think the nice thing about that episode and what the writers do is not just the aesculapian prospect of that case , but the personal side behind the people that are postulate in the case .

The really interesting thing is what ’s going on with the founding father and the girl and this father who ’s overprotective , with secure ground , of his daughter going off to college and essay to find her own independence given that situation . That , mixed in with everything … it ’s good how superimposed that whole post is .

Jake Actor Jon Ecker Breaks Down The Love Triangle Of Doc Episode 6

Jake really take the time to mind to Chloe and understand what she was die through . What do you look up to about Jake as a medico ?

Jon Ecker : I think one thing is that he really like medicine and doing a good caper . And beyond the superficiality of being in effect at the medicine , it ’s deeper than that in his lovingness for the patient role . I retrieve any time anybody is near at what they do or at least try really hard to be good at what they do and excel at it , that ’s always a very admirable quality in whatever professing it is .

But I think the fact that he does have a personal connection to these patients and handle about them beyond just what their aesculapian position is , since he ’s emotionally involved , makes you care even more about them and to attempt to go deeper to really figure out what ’s do whatever job it is depending on the week and what case it is .

The supporting cast of Doc standing in a room together, in season 1, episode 3

In this episode , Jake , although we do n’t really search that berth in the first season , has a daughter and is a divorced individual dad . So , even though his girl ’s much younger , he can still relate not only to what the daughter ’s going through , but the father trying to be the best pappa he can be .

I was actually going to ask you about that , because Jake bring up that he had a girl , and I was rummy if that was something that we might touch on this season .

Jon Ecker : Yeah , I wo n’t get into any spoilers since there are four instalment after this to know if we get into that . But up to this point , we have n’t really gotten into that besides just the fact that he mentions he has a daughter . But I think that , plainly , cause a kid can aid him touch on to the father in this episode .

“I Kind Of Expected It To Happen Further On In The Series”

Ecker Weighs In On The Romantic Rekindling Between Amy and Jake

Jake has had these feelings for Amy , but she ’s still in love with her x - husband . Can you speak a bit about his headspace these preceding installment ?

Jon Ecker : It ’s obviously a very interesting and hard situation , and a piffling hard to enwrap your head around . I go up it from the standpoint of going through a breakup , which everybody ’s gone through . [ Everybody ] can relate to some level of being in love with somebody who does n’t return the feelings . But this is plainly a little bit unlike because the mortal has a traumatic brain wound and legitimately does not even remember my world , much less our relationship and much less our wild-eyed kinship .

So , it ’s a little different because you ’re dealing with a separation , but in a way there ’s this hope that perhaps things will change . It ’s kind of good and high-risk because there ’s also no finality to it . It ’s not like this individual left you and you ’re moving on . It ’s “ Okay , well , this person is kind of in making love with her ex - husband and does n’t remember me , but we did have a connection . Is our connection just this universal thing and we ’ll accrue in love again ? Or , tomorrow , will she show up to knead and all of a sudden the psyche trauma has kind of gear up itself , she remembers me , and we go back to normal ? Or do I require to move on with my life history ? ”

Dr. Larsen and Dr. Heller look on blankly in Doc

And I ca n’t really have this word with her because that ’s per the doctor ’s recommendations . From a psychology standpoint , you want her to tardily regain the memory and not remind her of it , so I ’m just sit around on the sidelines with a small bit of hope , but I also do n’t know . It ’s this weird kind of purgatory office up until this episode and the threshold gets opened back up .

grant , it ’s not necessarily the way that I would ’ve hoped in that she just arouse up one twenty-four hour period and her retention ’s back and she remembers everything and she ’s in love with me and has moved on from her x - husband . She just kind of comes to the realization that we were together . So I ’ll take it , but it is not exactly the idealistic setting , because that history is not ingrain in her yet .

I was going to expect if you were surprised about how that came about , because , like you said , she did n’t get her memory back . She estimate it out on her own .

Dr. Heller looks over his shoulder with a concerned expression in Doc

Jon Ecker : Yeah , I was n’t really surprised because from a striking viewpoint , if she had just wake up one day and had her whole memory back , that ’s kind of like , “ Well , there ’s the terminal of the show . She remember everything , have ’s all go back to normal . ” So I think it made sentience that if it was going to happen , that she would kind of start piecemealing her old life history back together .

We , as worker , when we ’re pip this , are kind of in the same boat as the spectator watching it now , where we ’re getting the episodes [ one by one ] . Sometimes they ’ll give us a hint what ’s going to materialise – and it ’s not like they keep it from us . They ’re compose episodes as they go , too – but I kind of wait it to pass off further on in the serial than sequence six .

But I look it to be that she just kind of piecemealed it together and it just made sensory faculty in her promontory , because even though she does n’t remember me , we apparently have already started to build a caring connexion and relationship in these weeks since her stroke anyway . I consider she can pick up on that we had a bit of a unlike relationship than her and some of the other colleagues .

Headshot Of Molly Parker

They kiss , and she comes inside , but do you sense they ’re quick to jump back into a relationship ? It sense like Jake knows Amy in a path she no longer knows him .

Jon Ecker : Yeah , I think you ca n’t just jump mighty into it . I think Amy and Jake have a connexion with each other that , even without the memory , I think we ’ll pick back up . But , obviously , there is a slew of luggage to deal with that we did n’t have to deal out with the first go - around with our relationship – primarily that she is in lovemaking with her ex - hubby and dealing with the departure of her son . That was n’t really the case when we started our relationship .

Prior to the accident , obviously she had lost her Logos and she had divorced her husband , but years had gone by , and so she was kind of in a good headspace with that , and now she ’s kind of grieve all of that at the same time . It ’s plausibly not the respectable property to start a relationship , so you ’ve got to tiptoe into it a small meekly . But we ’ll see .

Headshot Of Omar Metwally

Jake fell in love with the Amy he knew , but she ’s not the person she was before the accident . What has it been like for him to witness these different version of the same woman ?

Jon Ecker : Well , I think we explore some of their history and how they get together throughout flashback throughout the season , but we have n’t gone too far back in their family relationship much before when they commence date stamp . But I reckon for Jake , the Amy that he knows is n’t that unlike from this Amy .

I call up part of the bail that they had was that when she was the old Amy , he , in a way , cracked that hard stratum and that facade that she had put up and everybody else see . He got through that and he saw that softer side . For whatever reason , Amy decided to open up to him and let down that barrier . So , even though she ’s different to the patients and her colleagues right now , I think that was the Amy that Jake knew and fall in erotic love with because he had kind of gotten through that hard taboo stratum .

The Actor Is Eager To Explore More Of Jake’s Personal Life Outside Of The Hospital

Are there any specific motion that you have about Jake that you are hope the show is going to answer ?

Jon Ecker : I ’m eager , whether or not it pass off this season or in a – knock on Sir Henry Wood – next season , to research more of Jake ’s personal spirit outside of the hospital . When we set off filming , we talked to the writers and have an idea in our head – whether it ’s from the writer or something we ’ve just created – of their childhood , their relationship with their parent , and all that . [ I thought about ] that geological formation of Jake that has , over his life story , made him who he is today .

He has to deal with his daughter and ex - married woman and poppycock , so I kind of have in my header from talking to the writer what that post is , but it would be interesting to actually see it dally out on sieve in future episodes . So , it ’s not necessarily a question , but face of his life to explore out of doors of the hospital would be interesting . Then , [ I ’m interested in ] go on to explore this family relationship with Amy and the love life triangle that has been created thanks to her genius injury .
