With less than a calendar month to go beforeMarvel ’s The Defendershits Netflix , the mold and crew are give fans an idea of what to expect from thecrossover miniseries . Building on everything that the Netflix nook of the MCU has put out so far , it looks like the show will give sports fan more of what they loved aboutDaredevil , Luke Cage , Jessica JonesandIron Fist .
We ’ve been teased before with Elektra ’s riposte as part ofThe Defenders , as she was featured conspicuously ( though still in a sarcophagus ) in thefirstDefenderstrailer . Now it ’s been revealed just what she will be like when returns - namely , more lethal than ever before .
utter live withEntertainment Tonightin a Facebook flow from Comic - Con , the cast ofThe Defenders(along with Jeff Loeb and showrunner Marco Ramierez ) discussed how the show came together and how four " loners " became a team . The discussed howDanny Randwas kind of the driving force behind the squad - up , while the resister ofSigourney Weaverand the " purportedly dead " Elektra really drive them together and forced the subject . latch on to the Elektra comment , ET ’s Leanne Aguilera asked Elodie Yung about what fan can expect from her fictional character in the serial :
ET : I was going to say … what can we expect from Zombie Elektra ?
Elodie Yung : Very bloody , very dark Elektra this season .
ET : Was that fun for you , to be able to have that additional layer to her ?
Elodie Yung : Definitely , yeah . It ’s good to go back to a character , you know , you like , love , and then just research different aspects of her personality . So yeah , I had a passel of merriment .
This falls in assembly line with the expectation that Elektra will be raise as a weapon for The Hand , given that she was revealed in time of year 2 ofDaredevilto be one of the beings known as a " Black Sky . " While there is still little known about the Black Sky , there have been several comparisons made between how it is fear byThe Handand the tool know as The Beast from the comics . surmisal began after Sigourney Weaver ’s molding that her quality might be somehow related to The Beast , so it ’s possible that the Black Sky is either a vessel for The Beast to enter our humans or is otherwise related to the creature .
Having the Black Sky be connected to The Beast ( or perhaps be an MCU variant of it ) would not only give Elektra a reason to be " crashing " duringThe Defenders , but it could also allow for an opportunity for comics easter eggs as well . We ’ve suppose before thatThe Defendersmight be loosely inspire by theShadowlandstory arcin Marvel Comics , and having The Beast or some analogue for it be imply inThe Defenderswould further cement this hypothesis . The Beast was the primary opponent in that story , taking control of Daredevil and invest him in command of The Hand . Several role fromThe Defendersplayed key function in that plot line , though it would obviously be substantially altered for the screen .
Regardless of what the patch forThe Defendersends up being , fans are sure to enjoy take in Elektra at her bloody best . Being capable to see her squad up with Sigourney Weaver and The Hand to take on The Defenders ( and haveyet another hall fight ) will certainly make the series worth the wait .
